Full Metal Panic , the light novel has been ongoing for 12 years and ended lately in i think October this year. If you guy has never heard of Full Metal Panic then you should really at least look for its manga, its one of those few long story and set in a very big world setting kind of manga, carefully plan and written storyline.
so for some introduction, Full Metal Panic set in a parallel world, based upon actual world events around the late 20th century to the early 21st century. The story begins in Hei Sei 10 (1998 AD), where the Cold War has yet to end. China has split into a north and south, with Hong Kong being split much like Berlin. The main story develops its characters carefully, and is the shadow or "unusual" events of the protagonist's life. These stories feature the mercenary group Mithril, their mobile base/submarine, called the TDD-1 Tuatha De Danaan, giant humanoid powered suits called Arm Slaves, and the various missions to which Sosuke Sagura is assigned. A highlight of the series is a serious and semi-realistic view of humanoid robotic weapons on the battlefield. The Arm Slave has significant consideration in its portrayal, with explanations given for its power source, operations, maintenance and pilot user interface. The existence of such advanced weaponry and equipment is explained through Black Technology. Then the story develop when Sakura Sosuge the protagonist is assigned to be the bodyguard of Kaname Chidori, the heroin of the light novel, how from a don't know anything man become a caring man, how he learn that he just a normal teenager, who deserve a real life beside mission and battle.
i like how each character in the novel has his/her own back story, that way the reader would develop a more deepen relationship as they read along the book, i must the character i like the most would be Melissa Mao, how she become the Leader of those two little troublemaker , Mao i salute you, she is just so strong in front yet tender in the back. So by not trying to spoil the story, i like the ending a lot, it is a very good ending, big thanks to Shoji Gatoh sensei for writing this good novel. For myself i like how anime mix the element of comedy and action perfectly while they are executing the storyline, for this one i must say it hit my taste, there are few touching moment in it too, especially how i like Sosuke said :" i want to be just Sagura Sosuke, a man without guns , without AS , just go to school everyday , and be with you, Kaname." The line is so memorable... this could as well be any war-worn soldier voice deep insider their heart.
So, you people who didn't watch this or read this good novel ? I demand you go show some support for it, it worth your time and you will never regret it, you might even come thanks me later, there are 3 seasons of anime and 13 volumes of manga released for it. Do go look for it on the net , download it , anyway you can get it. It is a really good novel based anime, i would give it 5 STARS~!!!
